Description

Okay, before anything, I have to mention something important : these are tools I use and I found useful for myself .This is also a result of years of reading, testing, experimenting, observing what’s used by skilled people, trying to find what’s best and eventually “getting there”. This is also my recommendation, it may or may not work for you if you decide to use any of those tools I’ve listed but many of those things are popular amongst many artists, recommended and made by respected, famous brands. It’s good to do own research before purchasing if you aim for the best materials out there and I hope this will somewhat help you. Keeping in mind that “the best” is often subjective, here we go :

LIST OF TOOLS:
I often get asked about what I use to create my art so I decided to take a photo of my tools – maybe it will help you get an answer or find here something useful for yourself :)
)”Talens” Gouache – gouache is a type of paint that can work either like watercolors or acrylics, depending on the technique and the amount of water. This is my main medium, I also use gouache from other companies (got lost in the photo orz).
)”Ecoline” paints – they are a bit like watercolors but don’t allow smooth blending and require fast working.
)”KOH-I-NOOR” Drawing Ink – a nice alternative for those who don’t have much money to spend on art supplies. Cheap inks I decided to test – black was used to paint Reika’s hair in my “Sleeping Awake” artwork.
)A lot of different types of paints from various brands – Winsor&Newton, W&N Cotman, Polycolor (acrylics), Van Gogh, Phoenix(a cheap brand, good for beginners but not very good in general, at least in my opinion).
)”Winsor&Newton” Ink – a bit more expensive than Koh-I-Noor but also better. I use it with airbrush.
)G-Pen – popular amongst manga artists, especially in Japan. Comes with nibs and is used, for example, to draw manga pages with ink. Depending on the nib, it allows drawing thicker or thinner lines. Works like a charm!
)Brushes – various brushes. I can’t help that I just love collecting them xDD
)”Talens” Masking Liquid.
)”Schmincke Aero-Color” – professional paint for airbrushes. Comes with a very comfortable paint picker.
)”Holbein Artist’s Gouache” – I got those from my boyfriend (ily!) this week *w* Super expensive but also super professional Japanese gouache used, for example, by Clamp. It is an equivalent of Copic Markers in paints industry. (I feel it’s a disgrace to use it with my art aww orz ).
)”Amsterdam”,”Renesans” Acrylic – acrylis paints. Not a big fan of those but they had so beautiful colors I just had to buy them XD
)”Leningrad White Nights” – popular Russian paints. Bought them long ago and haven’t been used so far so I can’t tell you much about them, but I hear they are very good :)
)Airbrush – this is airbrush used with paints. Allows me to decorate my works with, for example, transparent curtains.
)”Winsor&Newton – The Studio Set” – a set of very good watercolors. Got a good bargain there so I just had to buy it !
)More brushes XD
)”Copic Markers” – very popular and professional Japanese markers. I worked hard in a restaurant back there and got myself a set of 72 Copic Sketch Markers (Set A) and later bought more markers independently. I use them as complementary tool for now, but as sson as I get a permanent job I’m going to buy some refills for my blues and start using them more often *u* - I also use Bristol paper with them.
)”Copic Airbrush”– special airbrush used with Copic Markers. I bought a longer hose and my own compressor later on as Copic sells air cans but it’s not very economical D: It’s better to invest into a compressor :>
)Soft pastels – my favourite company is “Rembrandt”.
)”Faber Castell” watercolors – my first set of watercolors looked like this. I bought it for 2 euros in Portugal and some of my long-time favourite works were done with these “(“Echo of Northern Wind”, “Guiding Star” <3).
)A lot of multiliners, outliners and markers.
)Pencils and erasers.
)I decided to include some of those things that inspire me : “Chobits” manga, “Project Zero/Fatal Frame” survival horror game series, “Final Fantasy VII” (you can see “Crisis Core” for PSP in the photo <3),”Chobits” Artbook, “Chobits” Official Fan Book (includes special trading cards, never published Clamp paintings connected with Chobits, fan art and a lot of lovely things *w* I was lucky to get it cheap D: ).
)”Winsor&Newton” Water Colour Pad 190gsm – the paper I currently ue, it’s A3 size. I also use Canson Montval 300 gsm.
)”Copic Opaque White”– white paint I use to decorate my art and not only. Only slightly visible in the photo, unfortunately xD

Thanks for looking, maybe you will find it helpful while shopping for art supplies :)
